Breaking a lease agreement (special conditions)?
well my lease clearly says that ". In the event Tenant is evicted for failure to abide by the terms of this Lease, or otherwise leaves the Premises prior to the expiration of this Lease, Tenant shall remain liable for all rental loss through the end of this Lease as well as advertising costs (subject to Landlord’s duty to mitigate pursuant to applicable laws), unless Tenant is expressly released from such obligation by Landlord IN WRITING." I recently lost my job and cannot afford to live here anymore. I gave a notice to my tenant, but I think he might try and hang me with this part of the lease. Saying i owe him the entire balance through end of the lease. Do i have any recourse or defense considering this was an unforeseen event? Or do i owe this man the balance of what would amount to almost a year of rent?
