How can I help mediate my parents divorce?

There is no way that either of my parents can afford legal fees, yet it seems very likely that if things continue on this track they'll be forced to. Do divorces without lawyers have a chance if there are children involved and they own a home? I really want to make this process as easy on both of my parents as possible. They haven't started the divorce process yet but they have talked about it and I know that it is the best thing. They hardly talk and if they do it always amounts to an argument so nothing is going to get figured out unless they can sit down and talk civilly to each other. So really my question is how can I get my parents to realize that arguing is getting them nowhere and how can I help mediate the situation?? And any advice on divorces without lawyers would be much appreciated! :)
